On May 3, 2025, as part of Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai’s efforts toward resource circulation, CREARE Atami-Yugawara Studio held an on-site workshop at the event “Gomi Matsuri” (Waste Festival), focusing on the theme of waste. The workshop offered participants the opportunity to create artworks using leftover pieces of stained glass.

This workshop used “sea glass” pieces, which are leftover materials from the stained glass artworks created for public art projects. With guidance from the studio’s craftsmen, who are usually engaged in creating stained glass artworks, participants had the opportunity to make their own unique stained glass pieces.
Participants selected their favorite pieces of sea glass, attached them to transparent frames with adhesive, and created their own artworks. The workshop was enjoyed by a wide range of participants, from children to adults.
Although these materials are leftover pieces generated during the production of public art, we give them new life as individual artworks through workshops like this, allowing many people to enjoy the creative process. We also offer on-site workshops at various locations. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.
