Everyone is Friends

Everyone walks with a quickened pace.
While walking underground, the sense of distance on the surface begins to fade.
It feels as if I am pushing my way through the very air.
There is a lingering unease, as if tracing a path through a labyrinth.
Yet, there is also the ease of a drifter, surrendering to the flow of the crowd.
I wonder if the green light and the breeze of this stained glass artwork
could be bestowed upon everyone, even if only in the smallest measure.

Like these grassy plains
Each a small, trickling expansion of life
Where the wind is always dancing
Let us all walk hand in hand

An underground passage is not a “road” in the usual sense. It is a corridor. A road divides the very heart of the landscape and eventually disappears into it. For the underground walls I have worked on until now, I have created stained glass artworks by imagining the various movements of the people passing through. I used quite vivid colors in the hope that they might arouse even a small measure of vitality. Whether a monochromatic wall surface will make the interaction between passersby more distinct, or whether it will remain nothing more than the wall of a corridor as a mere space—this is my first attempt at such an experiment.
