Artist's Comments

I am greatly delighted that this huge stained glass window “Captain Tsubasa” adorns the concourse of Urawa-Misono Station.
As everyone knows, this station is the one nearest to Saitama Stadium 2002-the home stadium of the Urawa Red Diamonds. The stadium is also frequently home to the Japan national football team. Therefore, I designed this stained glass with the feeling of supporting Japan.
The center of the design depicts the Tsubasa Japan team menbers wearing their national uniform ―the Japan team aiming to be the best in the world. So I also depicted rivals wearing the uniforms of their national teams placed around them. It will be a great challenge to defeat their rivals from around the world. Accordingly, I arranged scenes of previous challenges around them as proof of the great effort of the “Tsubasa” Players. I placed a dragon and tiger on both sides, and then hawks in the center to create the appearance of the players and their killer techniques with a sense of rivalry.
It would make me very happy as an artist if my work can move the hearts of those who visit this place even a little.
