Production Notes
On this wall, the image of “TOKYO SKYTREE® ” extending to the sky as the highest broadcasting tower in the world is overlapped with the traditional Japanese image remaining in this area.
Mr. SUMIKAWA expresses shaping of “Sori (Warp)” and “TO THE SKY”, which has been his theme for many years, by using “ceramic”, a traditional material from ancient times in Japan.
The station building will be relocated as part of the railway elevation work that began in 2018 on a 0.9 km section near Tokyo Skytree Station. The ceramic relief was removed, restored, and stored by Creare Atami Yugawara Studio, which produced it, before being reinstalled in the new station building in December 2025.

Sculptor
Born in Shimane prefecture in 1931. His feature is the shaping which creates a delicate balance in a space by his keen sense. Won the Japan Art Academy Award by "Sori no aru Katachi 2002" for which wood was cut and combined and by which beauty is emphasized in the space. Person of Cultural Merit in 2008. I combined the Red, Blue and Gold ceramic plates with Narihira area, which has Edo tradition, to image a single sky.
