Bright Time

On the loveliest of all worlds,
the splendor of sunlight awakens
the earth and rouses birds in flight.
Hear the flutter of wings.
Feel the pulse of time.

The composition, which balances architectural straight lines with soft, flowing curves, evolves gradually across eleven continuous narrow openings. Combined with a color palette reflecting the four seasons, the structure of the piece unfolds like a musical variation.
This work was created with a conscious focus on the concept of “Japanese Contemporary Stained Glass.” In both design and glass selection, great care was taken to highlight the inherent qualities of full antique glass—known for its high light transmittance and deep, resonant colors. This choice allows the outdoor scenery and the ambiance of natural light to be seamlessly drawn into the interior.
Within the tranquil architectural space of this alumni hall, visitors reuniting and conversing with old friends can enjoy the interplay of light and color through the stained glass, while feeling the beauty of the shifting seasons and the passage of time outside.

In 2000, the work was relocated from the transfer corridor of the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line Shibuya Station and reinstalled in the passage inside the ticket gates leading toward Shibuya Hikarie.
