Artist's Comments

While drawing the original picture of this stained glass, I remember Tsugaru Hirosaki ‘s refreshing snowy sky.
Various blues are the basic colors. There are also bright glasses of warm colors.
It would be wonderful if we could see the moving blue time fun and beautifully.

Production Notes

Hirosaki Civic Center, which has been familiar among local residents and citizens, celebrated the 50th anniversary of its opening in 2014. After major repair work was carried out from the year before last due to the aging, it newly opened in January this year. It newly started adopting the needs of the present day, while keeping cultural value as a building by Mr. Kunio Maekawa (1905-86), a world class architect.
The stained glass work “Blue Time” was produced based on the original painting drawn by Ms. Sano Nui, who is a western-style painter born in the local, Hirosaki city and is also a professor emeritus at Joshibi University of Art and Design, for Hirosaki Civic Center (She was also in charge of painting on the glass and production supervision). This work with her thoughts toward the hometown is the first stained glass work by Ms. Sano in Hirosaki City.
The harmony of color and light which “Sano Blue” weaves produces the march of beautiful blue time flowing in this space. I hope that this stained glass work “Blue Time” will be one of the new symbols of Hirosaki city and continue to be loved by all of you with familiarity and pride together with Hirosaki Civic Hall, that has made a new start.
